Day II of the Van Heusen India Men’s Week (VHIMW) was about sophisticated, experimental clothing for men.
All the designers for the day agreed that, as Karan put it, “You cannot deny men being fashionable anymore!” The Bollywood glamour didn’t overwhelm – even though Kunal Kapoor walked the ramp for Manoviraj and Vivek Oberoi was in the front row for Rohit-Rahul, the actors didn’t steal the designers’ thunder.
1x1 polls

A classic apart
Mother-daughter duo Ankita and Anjana Bhargav’s collection was a new take on familiar silhouettes, the classic with a twist. They focused primarily on shirts, and the kurta inspired ones were quite a hit. Unconventional pockets accentuated the clothes’ simplicity.
Vijay Arora on Anjana: “Her collection was extremely androgynous and stylish despite being minimalistic.”
Uniform presentation
Vijay Arora paid tribute to the armed forces through his collection. There were lots of camouflage prints and colours like khaki, olive and coffee. Men in shorts opened the show, and Vijay managed to put Sahil in a pair of really short ones! He said, “Sahil was a little apprehensive, but I convinced him.”

Anjana on Vijay: “He carried the military mood through very well. I liked the camouflage print bottoms.”
Mr sunshine
Manoviraj Khosla brought the first Bollywood showstopper to VHIMW and also a few from cricket – actor Kunal Kapoor and cricket commentators Sanjay Manjrekar and Nikhil Chopra. The collection struck a balance between white and black and pop colours like lime green, flaming orange and shocking pink.
Samant Chauhan on Manoviraj: The outfits that had bright hues were brilliant.
Apple pie
Karan Johar and Varun Bahl’s show had no B-town octane, and perhaps rightly so! The collection, The Magical Metropolis, was inspired by the dichotomy of New York City. The dichotomy, says Karan, was represented through details like colour – tobacco tones, dark blues, greys and flashes of colours like pink.
Pallavi Mohan on KJo-Varun: The structuring of the ensembles was perfect.
The travel diaries
There was much expectation from Ro-Ra (yeah, that’s what close friends call them!) to end the dry spell of celebs, and they didn’t disappoint – Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor were there. The collection, The Travelogues, was high on glamour, and a sartorial representation of man travelling the earth for the exploration of life. The clothes were in grey, off-whites and brick tones.
Karan Johar on Rohit-Rahul: “I think that the collection was very cool and androgynous.”
